What is an FAQ?
An FAQ, or Frequently Asked Questions section, is one of the most effective ways of answering the common questions that a visitor of your web site is likely to ask. FAQs are found on many varieties of web sites, and can range from single pages with just a few questions to multiple pages that span many dozens of topics.
Because an FAQ is always expanding, it is important that it be easy to maintain. That is where FAQTool comes in.
How did you generate this FAQ?
We generated this FAQ by taking an existing AnswerTool file (one that we already use to answer technical support by email), opening it in FAQTool, then using the Publish FAQ command to create this web page using the included "Simple" template.
You can just as easily create FAQTool files within FAQTool itself, but we had already created the file in AnswerTool before FAQTool was finished. (Check out the AnswerTool web site if you need to answer large volumes of email quickly.)
Where can I download a free trial?
You can download a free trial of FAQTool at
http://www.FAQTool.com/download.html
The FAQTool trial software is fully-functional for up to 15 consecutive days after installation. If it does not meet your needs, simply uninstall the software and pay nothing! (Of course we would appreciate you telling us what we could have done to meet your requirements.)
Where can I get FAQTool beta releases?
FAQTool beta releases are available at
http://www.faqtool.com/beta.html
Is it safe to order online?
Yes! We have been doing business on the Internet since 1997 and have earned a reputation for safe online shopping. Your online order is entered and processed through our own secure server with 128-bit SSL encryption. We use CyberCash as our payment gateway, and our credit card processor is Cardservice International, a company that handles over US$12 billion in annual volume.
What is your upgrade policy?
All FAQTool licenses include free upgrades within the same major release. For example, if the current version of FAQTool is 1.0 and you purchase it today, then there is no additional charge for any future FAQTool 1.x releases(1.1, 1.2, and so on). When FAQTool 2.0 is released then you will have the option to upgrade at a significant discount off the regular price.
How do I prevent a file from being modified?
To prevent a file from being modified you should mark it read-only from the Windows file manager.
Why must I have Internet Explorer 5.5 or later installed?
FAQTool requires IE 5.5 or later because we use it as the HTML editor and display component. Therefore only the browser itself is required. We don't use Outlook Express for anything, so if you do not use it as your email client you may opt not to install it when you install the IE browser itself.
Can I use FAQTool over the network?
Yes. FAQTool files can easily be shared over a LAN or the Internet.
Can you read .faqt files with any other software?
In addition to FAQTool, our AnswerTool software can read .faqt files directly. However since the .faqt files are standard XML files, you can easily convert them to other formats using XSLT or similar tools.
Is FAQTool based on HTML Workshop?
Not at all, but we do use the Internet Explorer browser engine for certain features.
Why am I getting a "you have too many copies running" error?
A single-user license only allows a single instance of FAQTool to be running. To run multiple copies of FAQTool at the same time, you will need a multi-user license or multiple single-user licenses, all of which can be purchased at
http://www.FAQTool.com/order.html.
When running with multiple single-user licenses, you must make sure that the a single-user license key is entered only on one machine. (Entering the same single-user license key on more than one machine will cause the "you have too many copies" error.) To enter a new single-user license on another machine, shut down FAQTool on the first machine, then on the second machine select Help->Enter License Key and enter the second license.
